“What three things does drink especially provoke?

Marry, sir, nose-painting, sleep, and urine.”

–          Macbeth. Act2.Scene 3

4 actors. 1 Shakespearean Play. Lots of Alcohol. 1 hour you will never forget.

Our group of Schwasted Actors will set out on an adventure; to perform one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. Join Hamlet on a mission to avenge his father’s death in an impossible 60 minute feat, but that’s not all – we will do so with a twist. One of our Schwasted Actors will partake in a bountiful amount of alcohol and attempt to recite the words of the immortal bard while the sober actors work to keep them on track. No two shows will ever be the same, and who knows what each performance holds as we let our Schwasted Actor steer the show. Hilarity, mayhem, and hangovers are bound to ensue.

(We promote a healthy relationship with alcohol by monitoring our performers closely and switching which performer is drunk every performance.)

The Weyward Sisters

Arcane Arts (St Petersburg, FL) presents:

The Weyward Sisters

Thurs May 3 7:30pm, Fri May 4 11:30pm,  Sat May 5 6pm,

Sun May 6 4:15pm, Thurs May 10 10pm, Sat May 12 7:30pm

Three witches come together on a shadowy heath.  There they prophesy of a bloody happenstance and ambitious fortune.  Macbeth’s mind is filled with possibility. Pushed toward a bloody conclusion by his wife, Macbeth takes the crown by force.  The guilt of the deed thick upon them, Lord and Lady Macbeth recoil from their ill gained goods. The crown and kingdom secured, Macbeth will do anything to keep it, turning on friends and enemies alike.  As regret and horror close in, Lady Macbeth descends into nightmarish lunacy. A lone champion, Macduff, rises from the ashes of a scorched Scottish countryside to challenge the murderous usurper.

Weyward Sisters strips Shakespeare’s classic tale of ambition, murder, and madness down to the essentials to focus on the human connections buried within this inhuman play. Developed through devising techniques with an emphasis on movement, Weyward Sisters delves into the psychological trauma of confronting the supernatural, fore knowledge of personal fate, and loss of loved ones. This three-woman show, centered around the witches, combines Shakespeare’s rich language with devising theatre’s complex physical expression into a nightmarish glimpse of the visceral reality of regret and loss.

Breakneck Hamlet

Tim Mooney Rep (Buffalo Grove, Illinois) presents:

Breakneck Hamlet

Mon May 7 6:30pm, Tues May 8 7:30pm,  Thurs May 10 7:30pm,

Fri May 11 6pm, Sat May 12 6pm

Tim Mooney presents “a one-man show for the fringe festival ages,” recklessly slicing Hamlet from Shakespeare’s original, cutting a four-hour play to a single hour with a single actor! This “breakneck” performance reveals Hamlet as a thrilling chameleon, with an immense intellectual capacity and a hilarious, wicked sense of humor. Rather than the “melancholy Dane,” Mooney “fights like hell,” with barely a second-long pause!

Winning five stars through the US, Canada (and Denmark!), Mooney’s “Hamlet” drew raves at the Orlando Fringe (“Exhaustingly impressive… you’ll finally get to enjoy Shakespeare’s words with impeccable enunciation”- Orlando Weekly), the London Fringe (“A perfect gem” – TheatreInLondon), the Calgary Fringe (“Best of Fest”), the Indy Fringe (“the way Shakespeare should be taught”—IndyStar), and the Kansas City Fringe (“A whirlwind of wonderful. Hold onto your seats and watch a master at his work” – KC Metropolis).

Edmonton’s Vue Weekly sums it up: “Neither Mooney, nor the audience can catch their breath… There’s an ‘I can’t believe he’s really going to do this’ feel of the show… If you’re a fan of Shakespeare, it’s a must see… a highly entertaining experience that’s worth the price of admission.”
